The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on Wednesday that Chicago, Tokyo , Rio de Janeiro and Madrid will bid for the right to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
The IOC executive board meeting which held here on Wednesday narrowed down the list of seven candidate cities. The bids of Doha, Prague and Baku were eliminated.
The IOC said Candidate Cities are due to participate in the IOC Observer Program during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games in August 2008.
A Candidature File describing their Olympic project will be submitted to the IOC and the IOC Evaluation Commission will assess it and send their assessment report to IOC members no later than one month before they cast their vote on October 2, 2009 in Copenhagen. Source: Xinhua
