The event, which was attended by teams from Angola, South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Congo Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cote d'Ivoire, saw both teams playing in the finals of the men and women events.

In the men's final, the southpaw Seun Ajetunmobi-led Union Bankbeat the Saka Suraju-inspired Avenis 3-0 to lift the trophy and moved on to the world tourney, while Ganiat Ogundele's Union Bank team fell 0-3 to Yang Fen-led Avenis in the women's finals.
