Chief of the Ecuadorian Olympic delegation Marcelo Delgado said Wednesday that many of the 25 sportsmen to the Olympic Games are already in Beijing in a process of adaptation.
Delgado said that Ecuadorian sportsmen are being acclimatized to the time change and are visiting the venues where the will compete.
Ecuador will compete in nine sports of athletics, boxing, judo, weight lifting, tennis, cycling, taekwondo, archery and swimming.
Judokas Roberto Ibanez (66kg), Glenda Miranda (48kg), Carmen Chala (78kg) and the Cuban technician Rafael Rodriguez arrived on Sunday to Beijing after the fulfilled competition tour in Germany and Spain.
Also weightlifter Eduardo Gudamud (94kg), Alexandra Escobar (58kg) and Cuban coach Xavier Perez are in Beijing, after many tournaments in U.S.
Also, swimmer Marco Camargo and archer Carmen Malo are in China.
Boxers Carlos Gongora (75kg), Jose Meza (48kg), Luis Poroso (57kg) and coach Segundo Chango are in Thailand.
Cyclist Emilio Falla is training since two months ago in the Center of High-Performance in Switzerland.
Meanwhile Marcher Xavier Moreno (50 km) will arrive in China on Aug. 4, long distance trackers Sandra Ruales will arrive on Aug. 11and Franklin Tenorio on Aug. 16.
Tennis player Nicolas Lapentti arrives in Beijing days before her competition as well as Loren Benitez on taekwondo.
Swimmers Marco Camargo and Yamile Bahamonde will also arrive soon in Beijing in order to continue their training.
