The prize award ceremony and press conference for "The State Grid Cup Contest, Call for Essays 'One World, One Dream, Worldwide Chinese Expecting 2008 Olympics'" was held in Beijing International press center on Aug 4, 2008.

As the first call for writing by Chinese in the history of Olympic Games, the event is also a practice of "social responsibility" advocated by the State Grid Corporation.

Being one of the biggest Olympic promotion event targeting all the Chinese in the world, it received intense response from Chinese home and abroad since Sept 4, 2007. A total of 453, 000 works, in forms of text, photo, cartoon, video, were submitted from 201 countries and regions, or 98% of the members of the IOC. The works embody the patriotism of the 56 nationalities in China, and the unity of the Chinese people; they also express support and good wishes to Beijing Olympics.

The article solicitation is an important carrier for the State Grid Company to carry out the Olympic Social Responsibility, according to Cao Zhi'an, deputy General Manger of State Grid Corporation and Wang Min, assistant to General Manger.

The solicitation expresses Chinese people's supportive attitude for the Olympic Games. The event is a successful example for the people's diplomacy and a classic case in the history of Olympic publicity, said Tu Mingde, assistant to the President of BOCOG.

The event is successful promotion of the Olympic spirit in the world, chief representative of IOC in China Li Hong said.

He Luli, vice chairperson of the Standing Committee of the 10th National People's Congress, officials from BOCOG, Information Office of the State Council, Overseas Chinese Affair Office of the State Council attended the ceremony.
