O Jong Ae, the bronze medalist at the Beijing Olympics women 58 kg weightlifting from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), vowed to win a gold medal next time, a Korean newspaper said Tuesday.

"I didn't meet the expectations to get good result of my fatherland," O told Choson Sinbo, a newspaper run by ethnic Koreans in Japan.

"I thought to contribute a gold medal to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the nation," she said.

"If I could do better, I would win a silver," said she who had a two-lift total of 226kg for the bronze medal of her category on Monday.
