A total of 660 skiers from 61 countries and regions will take part in the Nordic World Ski Championships starting on Wednesday.
Gian Franco Kasper, president of the International Ski Federation (FIS) and Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek attended the opening ceremony held in Tipsport arena.
The ceremony was concluded with a performance by the British band Deep Purple.
