A day after Chicago 2016 officials led an International Olympic Commission evaluation panel around spruced-up sites, protesters in Chicago on Monday called the city to turn its attention to one of their vexing problems, potholes.
The protesters, who took to an intersection in Chicago's southwestern area, said they were not against Chicago hosting the 2016 Summer Games, but they want city officials to address pothole problems in the city.
They held signs that read "We need more city services" and "Mayor Daley, fix our potholes." Some chanted the same statement in call-and-response fashion. Others sold chocolate-chip cookies to raise money to fix potholes if the city would not do it first, organizers said.
It is reported that Chicago certainly had its pothole problems. The Transportation Department of Chicago had filled more than 250,000 street craters in the last winter.
