China's Chen Dong was crowned champion in boys' 400m hurdles, while compatriot Cheng Yafan won gold in girls 400m hurdles at the Asian Youth Games held here on Thursday.
In the boys' 400m hurdles, Chen Dong finished first with 53.19 seconds, followed by Selwyn Jebaraj Mervin from India with 54.41 seconds. The bronze medal went to Karam M Z H Yousef from Kuwait, with a score of 54.8 seconds.
In the girls' 400m hurdles, Cheng Yafan came in first with 1:02.15, Le Binh Dinh from Vietnam finished second with 1:02.79, while Sushma Mekala from India came in third with 1:03.44.
The first Asian Youth Games is held in Singapore from June 29 to July 7, with some 1,400 athletes aged between 14 and 17 from 45 Olympic Council of Asia's members competing in 90 events across nine sports. Source: Xinhua
