Olympic and world 400 meters champion LaShawn Merritt won the men's 400 meters title at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix here on Sunday.

Merritt , who also anchored the 4x400m relay win for the United States in the Berlin worlds, was also the winner at the World Athletics Final in Greece. He took the title at the Shanghai Stadium in 45.28 seconds.

Britain's Robert Tobin finished second in 45.49 and Congo's Gary Kikaya, fifth at the World Athletics Final, was third in 45.63.

Beijing Olympics bronze medalist David Neville of America finished fourth in 45.94. South African LJ van Zyl, a 400m hurdles specialist, was sixth in 46.38.
