London mayor Boris Johnson and his Vancouver counterpart Gregor Robertson met in London on Tuesday to discuss and share ideas about the Olympics.

Robertson hoped to reduce road traffic by 30 percent in Vancouver during the Winter Games in 2010, as the two Olympics cities explored ideas for future partnership on carbon reduction initiatives and clean and green environmental technologies.

"This is just a start of the friendship between London and Vancouver. I believe we will learn much from each other's experiences of managing major sporting events and the challenges of running large cities in the 21st Century," said Johnson, "I look forward to visiting Vancouver when they host the XXI Olympic Winter Games in February."

"With the Summer Olympics arriving in London in 2012, both of our cities have a lot to share in terms of what it takes to prepare for the Games," said Robertson, "I wish Mayor Johnson and the London Organizing Committee the best of luck preparing for 2012 -- they've got a big challenge, but I know they're up to it."
