China's Zhou Haiyan wins women's 800m at Asian championships

China's Zhou Haiyan won the crown of the women's 800 meters at the 18th Asian athletics championships on Friday.

Zhou clocked 2:04.89 to win. Kazakhstan's Margarita Matsko, who placed fifth in the last Asian championships, exploded to 2:05.31 to take the silver.

The gold medalist of last Asian championships, Vienam's Hang Truong Thanh placed third with 2:05.33.

The race included a rerun of last week's Asian Indoor Games. InHanoi, Matsko won ahead of Truong Thanh and Kazakhstan's Viktoriya Yalovtseva.

"I am satisfied with the result," said Zhou, who also grabbed the medal of women's 1500m event Friday night. "It is my first time that I participated in such big games, and I got little nervous at first. "
