World marathon champion Bai Xue from China breezed to the women's 10,000 meters victory at the 18th Asian athletics championships here on Saturday.
The 20-year-old Bai, winner of the event at National Games last month in Shandong Province, stormed to win the race with overwhelming advantage.
Bai overtook the tiring front-runners in the last 900 meters, ran alone unchallenged in the last two laps and cross the line first in 34 minutes and 11.14 seconds.
Kavita Raut of India took the silver in a personal best 34:17.21, while Wang Jiali of China stood third with a last-gasp dash in 34:22.64.
"I was not in my top form, and the result was not very good," said Bai, winner of the event in 2005 Asian championships. "I was quite tired after winning the marathon in Berlin Worlds, so I trailed in most time of the race.
"My next aim is to win a gold medal in 2012 London Olympic Games, and I am confident I can make it," she added.
In August's Berlin championships, Bai became the youngest ever women's world champion in marathon. She was the first Chinese to win a marathon race in the world championships. She also put an end to Chinese women's 10-year-old gold drought at the worlds.
