Ugandan track queen Dorcus Inzikuru will make a comeback to the roads of Kampala to reclaim the MTN Kampala International Marathon women's 10km title she won in 2004.
According to the state-owned New Vision daily on Thursday, it will be the first road race Inzikuru will be participating in on home ground since giving birth in 2007. She is on a recovery path after missing last year's Beijing Olympics.
The former world 3,000m steeplechase champion is now at home after competing in a series of events in Europe.
The 10km women's race will be held along with the full marathon, half marathon and the 10km corporate categories. Activities of the6th edition of the annual show will start and end at Kololo Airstrip on Sunday.
Inzikuru, however, will have to step up her performance against upcoming Doreen Chesang, Annet Negesa and Annet Chelangat who are all out to mount a spirited challenge.
MTN Chief executive officer Thembo Khumalo is set to flag off the event, which will see the top performers get cash prizes offered by the company.
The event, organized to raise funds for the underprivileged, has attracted a record 19,058 participants and over 200 corporate teams.
