The Ridderrenn, also known as the Knight's Race for the disabled, is scheduled to be held in northeast China's Changchun City, capital of Jilin Province, on January 1, 2010, officials said Thursday.
Yang Wenjun, deputy director of the Jingyue Touring Development District Management Committee, said that the skiing race would be launched at Jingyuetan National Forest Park and more than 140 disabled players from China, Norway and Sweden would take part in the events such as cross-country skiing and snow walking.
The Norwegian embassy will offer free trainings to the disabled skiers of Changchun City and subsidizes to the players coming from other Chinese provinces, according to Yang.
The Ridderrenn, aiming to inspire and show what people with disabilities can achieve, is another Nordic imported cross-country ski event after the entrance of the Vasaloppet in Changchun.
The annual event can be traced back to 1964, and had its pilot run here in 2005.
