Spain's Rafael Nadal hits a return to Switzerland's Roger Federer during their men final at the French Open tennis tournament at Roland Garros in Paris June 8, 2008. Rafael Nadal routed world's No. 1 Roger Federer 6-1, 6-3, 6-0 to win his fourth consecutive French Open title here on Sunday.
The Spaniard thus became the second man to win four consecutive French Open titles after Swede Bjorn Borg did it in 1978-81. He also became the first man since Borg in 1980 to win here without losing set.
"Winning four times in a row is incredible," world second-ranked Nadal said.
Federer, who won all major titles except the French Open, has lost to Nadal on each occasions in the past four years. He was defeated in the semifinals in 2005, and in the final each of the past three years.
"Losing in the final is never fun," Federer said. "I'll try again next year. Rafael was once again the strongest."
