LONDON: China's Peng Shuai beat American wild card Alexa Glatch 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 on Tuesday to earn a spot in the second round at Wimbledon.
The Chinese No 3 now faces Polish No 11 seed Agnieszka Radwanska.
"It was a little bit dangerous. I'm very happy that I won," Peng told AFP.
"I've played her on a clay court before. She's got a big serve and she's really tall.
"I don't know why in the second set I lost my serve. I didn't get the chance to break her serve and she broke me twice. I told myself, try to fight and don't give up."
World No 36 Peng, who reached the third round at Wimbledon last year, has played Radwanska once before, losing in three sets at Indian Wells in 2008.
"She is really fast and has a really good touch. Her movement is really good and she's a really good player," Peng said. "I will try my best and go fight."
Radwanska said of the Indian Wells clash: "It was tough, but it was a long time ago and it was on the hard court, so it was a different situation than here."
