Dementieva advances into second round at China Open

Russia's Elena Dementieva defeated Anna-lena Groenefeld of Germany 6-4, 6-0 to reach the second round of the China Open WTA/ATP tournament in Beijing on Sunday.

It took Dementieva, the 4th seed of the tournament, one hour and 9 minutes to win the match.

Although the German broke serve early in the first set and took a 4-3 lead, Dementieva gradually found her rhythm and broke in the eighth and tenth games to win it 6-4.

Groenefeld, ranked 63 in the world, totally lost her form in the second set, while the Russian stormed to a 5-0 lead.

In the sixth game, Dementieva had three match points and converted on the second to seal the victory.
