Double world sprint champion Tyson Gay will start his 2008 Olympic athletics season at the Jamaica International Invitation meeting on May 3.

Gay, who beat Bahamian Derrick Atkins and world record holder Asafa Powell of Jamaica for the 100m world title in Osaka last year, will open in the 200m in Kingston, his coach Lance Brauman.

"The focus on our training right now, to this point has being on the US Championships, with in mind to run the very best at the Olympic," Brauman said on a local radio programme on Thursday.

Gay also won the 200m and 4x100m gold in Osaka.
