DALIAN, China: Recovering world champion Tyson Gay said yesterday he would be ready for the 100m at the Beijing Olympics in 10 days.
"When I step on the line in Beijing, don't worry," Gay said in a statement. "I'll be ready to go."
The men's 100m is expected to be the athletics highlight of the Games.
World record holder Usain Bolt, former holder and Jamaican compatriot Asafa Powell and Gay are expected to challenge Bolt's world record of 9.72 sec in the final on Aug 16.
American 200m world bronze medalist Wallace Spearmon has predicted all three could run under 9.70 sec given favorable conditions.
