French rider Sebastian Hinault won a sprint finish on Tuesday to take the honors in the tenth stage of the Vuelta de Espana (Tour of Spain), which finished in Zaragoza.
Hinault, who rides for the Credit Agricole team, finished ahead of specialists such as Tom Boonen and Oscar Freire in what has become a traditional packed finish in the city.
The 151 kilometer stage between Sabinanigo and Zaragoza was always going to produce a bunch sprint, coming as it did after three mountain stages and with only a second category climb after just 34 kilometers of the stage.
Team Milram rider Marat Jurco took advantage of the descent to launch a solo attack in which he was able to open up an advantage of over seven minutes before the pack began work to reel him in.
Jurco was caught just 10 kilometers from the finish after which the sprinters' teams began to work in order to place their fast men in the best possible position for the long finish straight.
With most eyes fixed on Boonen and Freire, it was Hinault, who found the extra kick to take him over the line first in a bunch sprint.
As expected there were no changes in the overall classification, where Egoi Martinez remains leader for another day.
