Olympic women's pole vault silver medalist Jenn Stuczynski has announced Monday to skip the upcoming world athletics championships due to an Achilles injury.

"Despite my focused efforts for the last five weeks to get 100 percent healthy, I made the decision on Sunday that I just can't be ready in time to compete in Berlin," Stuczynski said in a statement released by her management company Global Athletics & Marketing Inc.

The American record holder was only beaten by world record holder Yelena Isinbayeva last year at the Beijing Games to settle for a silver, while another Russian pole vaulter Svetlana Feofanova earned the bronze.

Earlier, Feofanova, with a leg injury, also declared to pull out of the Berlin athletics worlds, slated on Aug. 15-24.
