South African President Jacob Zuma will meet South Africa's World Athletics Championships medalists on Tuesday to congratulate them on their achievements in Berlin, his office said on Monday.
At the same time, the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) called on its members to "flock" to Johannesburg's OR Tambo Airport at 7.30a.m.(0530GMT) on Tuesday to welcome home and congratulate Caster Semenya, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi and Khotso Mokoena.
Semenya won the women's 800 meters gold medal, Mulaudzi the men's 800 meters gold medal and Mokoena the men's long jump silver medal at the competition in Germany.
"All three are a credit to their country and role models for young athletes," COSATU said in a statement.
They said South Africans should especially support Semenya, who has been the subject of questions about her gender. Source: Xinhua
