Spanish basketball team coach Aito Garcia Reneses said he was pleased with his team's performance but admitted there was still room for improvement after Spain defeated Russia 91-56.
Playing in Caceres in the second warm-up for next month's Olympic Games on Sunday night, the Spanish were never in trouble.
Pau Gasol and Felipe Reyes were the stars for the home side. Gasol scored 16 points and pulled down five rebounds, while Reyes netted 15 points and claimed eight balls from under the hoop.
The win served as consolation for Spain's defeat to Russia in last year's European Championship finals and speaking in El Mundo Deportivo on Monday, Reneses said he was delighted with the first half performance.
Spain led 53-23 at the break, and the coach thought they had produced some excellent basketball.
"Our first half was extraordinary, we played at high pace and showed a real desire to win. That made the Russian's drop their heads, because they had to play against a real whirlwind," said Reneses, who nevertheless though his players could play even better.
"I am a bit surprised by the quality of basketball we are producing at this stage of our preparations, but there is still a bit margin for improvement."
"We have to continue adding to our resources and speeding up our rhythm, although what we have at the moment is already important," he said.
