Without losing one set to the Argentines on Saturday, the Brazilian national volleyball team advances to the American Cup finals, held in the Brazilian city of Cuiaba, Mato Grosso.
With a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 29-27), the team coached by Bernardinho will face off against Cuba on Sunday.
"Semifinal matches are always difficult. Today's game was even more so due to the fact that we played against our traditional rivals, Argentina. We didn't play very well. We erred on many different things. We have to be careful in the finals against Cuba. They are a young team and are hoping to ruin our party. We have the responsibility of winning at home," said Escadinha, who completed his 250th game for the national team.
The Brazilians will attempt to the tournament for the first time on home soil. The Cubans suffered in their game against Venezuela, but ended up winning by a score of 3-2 (21-25, 25-19, 21-25 25-19 and 17-15). The Cubans are looking for their second title.
The Brazilians will hope to repeat Saturday's defensive heroics in their game against Cuba to secure the American Cup title.
