Cuba suffered its second straight full-set loss at the 2009 International Women's Volleyball Tournament here on Thursday, going down to Turkey 25-23, 16-25, 18-25, 27-25 and 15-10.

"It's an exciting match, both teams tried their best," said Cuba head coach Luis Oviedo. "You have to accept wins and losses in sports and I think today the Turkish team had better tactics."

Having squandered an early 4-1 lead in the tiebreaker, Cuba fought hard to stay within 11-10.

However, after Kenia Carcaces drove a ball long, Gozde Kirdar had three aces in a row to conclude the marathon match in one hour and 56 minutes.

"I am very happy with the victory, my players fought bravely throughout the match," said Turkey head coach Alessandro Chiappini. "Every match is very important for us and we will try to play well against Dominican Republic tomorrow."

Deniz Hakyemez scored 19 points for Turkey, Seray Altay and Gozde added 16 and 12 respectively.

Rosir Calderon's game-high 24 points turned out to be in vain as Cuba has only honor to play for in Friday's match against China.

Later on Thursday, China will play Dominican Republic at the Kunshan Gymnasium.

Four teams are playing in this round robin tournament which runs through Friday.
