Brazilian soccer star Ronaldinho, who is suffering a right ankle injury, has a 70 percent chance of being well in time to take part in the national team's match against Peru, the team's doctor said on Wednesday.
Ronaldinho, whose full name is Ronaldo de Assis Moreira, "has already improved a lot and the abnormal collection of fluid in his ankle is much improved".
The star, who plays for Barcelona FC of Spain, was injured on Saturday in a stunning 2-0 loss to Madrid Getare.
"Now is the time to focus on physiotherapy, but we will see if we can free him up by Thursday," said the doctor ahead of the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Brazil's players trained on Monday without Ronaldinho or winger Gilberto Silva, who missed his flight from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil will face Peru on Sunday in Peruvian capital Lima, and on Wednesday it will face Uruguay in Sao Paulo's Morumbi stadium.
Now Brazil stands second in its qualification group with four points while Argentina leads with six.
Brazil, known as canarinha or little canary, ended its first match against Colombia 0-0, but then went on to crush Ecuador 5-0 in Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium.
