Peru and Brazil on Sunday played to a 1-1 draw in their World Cup qualifier in Peru capital Lima in front of a 60,000-strong crowd that earned the organizers one million U.S. dollars.
Brazil's goal came in minute 40 when winger Maicon took a shortcut round Peru's defense and passed to Kaka, who plays for Italian team Milan.
Kaka, whose real name is Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, bounced the ball to his left foot and launched a 20-meter strike from his right foot. Peru's goalkeeper Penny had no time to react.
Three minutes later Kaka aimed another ball at the Peru goal, but this time Penny reacted, knocking the ball into the corner.
Peru equalized through winger Vargas, who with a strong left foot, also from 20 meters out, reversed a Peruvian clearance. The ball bounced off Brazilian defender Lucio before defeating Brazilian goalkeeper Cesar.
During the last 20 minutes of the match, both sides played with great tension and aggression, forcing Paraguayan referee Carlos Torres to draw out yellow cards on several occasions. Source: Xinhua
