Otto Baric has quit his post of Albania coach after the national team lost 6-1 to Romania on Wednesday at the Euro 2008 qualifications.
"Upon reviewing the state of the team, he (Baric) said he was no longer able to manage the team and strong enough to continue working with the national side," the Albanian soccer federation said Thursday in a statement.
The country's soccer governing body accepted Baric's resignation and thanked him for helping give a new image to a team.
Albania finished fifth in qualifying Group G with 11 points from 12 matches.
Baric was the third foreign coach brought in by Albania since 1990 after Italy's Giuseppe Dossena and Germany's Hans-Peter Briegel.
