Changchun Yatai,a dark horse who just claimed the Chinese Super League soccer title, is fearless of any rivals in AFC Champions League despite being drawn into "Group of Death".
"This is a rather normal outcome. I don't think we are in the Group of Death. We fear no one in the fields of AFC Champions League," said Liu Yuming, board chairman of club, after knowing the draw results for the 2008 AFC Champions League this afternoon.
Yatai is in Group E with Australian Adelaide United, South Korean K-League champions Pohang Steelers and Vietnamese champion Becamex Binh Duong, the currently tagged "Group of Death" by the media.
When talking about the rivals from Australia and South Korea, Liu believed Yatai is capable of beating them if players can adjust themselves well and maintain their form.
Liu also said: "Next year our team members will play for the club as well as the national and the Olympic team. However, to participate in the AFC Champions League means you will represent China."
According to Liu, Yatai will fly to Hainan base for winter training tomorrow. The club will also select six to seven players from transfer market. Source: Xinhua
