Last year, Roger was loaned to the Flamengo soccer team, but he did not perform well. The loan ended on December 31 and the player returned to Sao Paulo where he is scheduled to present himself to the rest of the Corinthians team on Thursday.
"Roger is a great player. In Corinthians, he wasn't able to show his potential and is not in the plans of the head coach, ManoMenezes. We are working hard to find a solution that would make both the Corinthians organization and Roger happy," said Mario Gobbi, the vice president of the soccer team.
Corinthians offered Roger to Botafogo as an exchange for the other midfielder Lucio Flavio. Nonetheless, the coach from the Riode Janeiro team vetoed the idea and the negotiations were cancelled.
The midfielder was also considered to be a part of the trade between Cruzeiro in return for the forward, Alecsandro. However, Cruzeiro also denied the possibility.
Another team that rejected Corinthians' offer was Atletico Mineiro soccer team, from the state of Minas Gerais. They claimed Roger did not have a good performance in 2007. Source: Xinhua
