Betao, the fullback of the Corinthians soccer team, has decided to leave the club.
"I am certain of two things: the first is that I will be back soon. The second is that Corinthians will always be my home and the personnel of the team will always be part of my family," said Betao on Monday.
With the end of his contract, the fullback met with the team president, Andres Sanchez. The two discussed the possibility of the player staying with the team, but Betao decided that it would be better for him to move on to another team.
The team president offered the player a three year extension to his contract, but the offer was declined.
Sanchez claimed on Monday that the doors will always be open should the player change his mind.
