The Sao Paulo soccer team announced on Wednesday that the midfielder, Fabio Santos, will be loaned to the team from Lyon for a period of six months.
Sao Paulo, however, is hopeful that the player will eventually sign a contract that will keep him in Brazil.
"I am very happy with the agreement. I have always wanted to play for Sao Paulo, even when I was playing for Cruzeiro. I am sure that I am going to be happy here," said the player.
Fabio Santos played under the current head coach of Sao Paulo, Muricy Ramalho, when they both were with the team of Sao Caetano.
Last season, Fabio Santos attempted to make an arrangement with the team, however, it did not work out. The two parties began negotiations again at the end of 2007, but only now has the agreement been worked out. The contract signed on Wednesday is valid through the 10th of July, 2008.
Fabio Santos is the fourth addition to the Sao Paulo team for the 2008 season. The other players added to the roster are the forwards Joilson and Adriano, along with the fullback, Juninho.
