AC Milan was beaten 1-2 by Atalanta in a rescheduled Serie A match on Wednesday, losing a chance to reduce its 25-point gap behind league leader and city rival Inter Milan.
Gennaro Gattuso gave Milan the lead in the 16th minute but Atalanta replied with goals from Antonio Langella and Fernando Damian Tissone.
Milan remained with 24 points, falling one behind Atalanta.
The game was postponed on November 11 due to fan violence. This time, the match was closed to the public.
Also Wednesday, Julio Ricardo Cruz scored twice as 10-man Inter drew 2-2 with Juventus in the first leg of the Italian Cup quarterfinals. In other first-leg games, 10-man AS Roma drew 1-1 at Sampdoria and Udinese beat Catania 3-2.
In Bergamo, Milan went ahead on a shot by Gattuso that deflected off an Atalanta defender.
Milan's new Brazil striker Alexandre Pato missed wide on a clear look in the 32nd and Langella equalized by shaking off two defenders with a fake and then converting an angled shot.
Atalanta won when Simone Inzaghi drew Milan goalkeeper Zeljko Kalac out of position and passed to Tissone, who shot into an empty net.
