The Criminal Court of Sao Paulo heard the accusations last Friday against Alberto Dualib and Nesi Curi.
The former president and vice president of the Corinthians soccer team were condemned on Monday based on the allegations presented by the Public Prosecutor.
The two will be sued on accounts of forming a criminal organization as well as fraud.
The charges against the former presidency of the soccer club were first brought up in late February by the Special Group of Action and Repression of Organized Crime (GAECO).
The team of lawyers made up of Juracy Benedito, Marcos Roberto Fernandes and Daniel Espindola da Cunha accompanied the accused who are alleged to have diverted some 700,000 U.S. dollars. However, according to the Public Prosecutor, the amount could top more than 2.5 million dollars.
Based on the court's acceptance of the charges, Dualib and Curiwill be interrogated in relation to their charges. Additionally, those who will also be interrogated and will testify against Dualib and Curi will receive a special court decree that will guarantee their identities are kept a secret in order to remain anonymous.
Dualib and Nesi were released of their position in August of last year when they asked for a leave of absence. In the following month, they both handed in their letters of resignation after receiving large amounts of pressure and opposition from members of the club's fans.
