With Adriano's two goals in Sunday's game, and a victory of 2-0 over Bragatino, Sao Paulo is close to reaching the finals of the Sao Paulo State championship.
Should it win next weekender against Juventus in Morumbi stadium, Sao Paulo will guarantee its ticket to the finals. The team now has accumulated 35 points and needs three more to qualify to the semifinals.
Once again, the Sao Paulo team played a sound game. They did what was necessary to win the three points in Sunday's game. However, Bragantino was unable to create one solid chance at a goal and remain with 25 points in this year's competition.
"We played well today. The team dominated the game without taking any risks. We concentrated and deserve today's victory," said head coach Muricy Ramalho.
In the 9th minute, Sao Paulo's quick break-away paid off when Hernanes passed the ball off to Adriano down the middle of the field and was able to dribble past the goalie to lit up the score board for Sao Paulo.
The second goal came 11 minutes later. In the 20th minute, it was Adriano again who scored. On a corner kick from Jorge Wagner, Adriano took advantage of a passed ball and sent it into the back of the net, scoring the team's second and last goal of the day. Source: Xinhua
