South Africans must work hard to make the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the first of this kind on the African soil, a success, the tournament's Local Organizing Committee Chief Executive Officer Danny Jordaan has said.
He appealed to all South Africans to contribute toward the preparation of the event to "give the world one of the best soccer World Cups it has ever seen," the officials Bua News agency reported on Friday.
Jordaan made the remarks while speaking at Sun City, Northwest Province, on Thursday during the celebration of the 4th anniversary since the announcement was made that South Africa would host the World Cup.
"This event that we have worked hard for belongs to all the people of Africa especially the South Africans," he said. "We must all work hard to make sure that we give the world one of the best soccer world cups it has ever seen."
He further urged South Africans to use their talent and benefit from the event.
"We have people who have the potential in our country, all of us must use out talent to make sure that we better our lives," he said. Source:Xinhua
