Defender Tomas Ujfalusi will be the captain of the Czech national soccer team at the forthcoming Euro 2008, the team's coach Karel Brueckner said on Tuesday.
Ujfalusi, 30, who played with Italy's Fiorentina the past season and will transfer to Spain, will replace injured Tomas Rosicky as captain.
"I'm naturally glad to be chosen. When Rosicky returns, he'll be captain again," Ujfalusi told a press conference.
English Arsenal's midfielder Rosicky, 27, announced two weeks ago that the treatment of a hamstring injury he suffered in January would not be completed by Euro.
Ujfalusi leads the team in a friendly against Lithuania Tuesday evening. This was not the first time that Ujfalusi led the team. He replaced Rosicky in the post previously, for example in a friendly against Denmark in March. Source:Xinhua
