Brazil's club Fluminense beat Argentina's Boca Juniors 3-1 on Wednesday evening in Rio and moved on to the final round of the Libertadores Cup.
In a sold-out Maracana Stadium, Fluminense maintained the 0-0 tie up to the end of the first half. The result would qualify the hosts, as they had managed to tie 2-2 as visitors in the first semifinal game last week in Buenos Aires.
Boca's forward Palermo opened the score in the 12th minute of the second half, but Fluminense's Washington tied five minutes later, with a direct free kick.
Conca increased the lead for the hosts in the 26th minute, and forward Dodo, who had replaced Ygor in the beginning of the second half, scored Fluminense's third in the 47th minute.
Not only did the victory mean the elimination of the 2007 Libertadores champion, but also the first Brazilian win over the Argentinean club in 45 years in the competition.
Fluminense will face Ecuador's LDU Quito in two finals matches, on June 25, in Quito, and on July 2, in Rio. Source:Xinhua
