Vasco's loss to Cruzeiro by a score of 1-0 in the Brasileiro Championship could cost them much more than the three points they lost in Sunday's game.

Edmundo, Vasco's polemic forward, faces on Monday charges of offending the referees of the match. The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) has requested the interview in which Edmundo gave in his post-game interview to analyze if the player deserves to be punished or not.

Edmundo is alleged to have broken code 252 of the Brazilian Code of Sports Conduct.

The code reads that it is a punishable offense to morally offend a referee, his assistants, or any other member participating in the sporting event.

Edmundo demonstrated his dissatisfaction with the referee staff on Sunday when they awarded Cruzeiro a dead ball penalty just outside of the penalty box, resulting in Cruzeiro's game winning goal. Edmundo called the referee a thief and a scoundrel.

Dr. Paulo Schmitt, the lead attorney of the Superior Court of Sports Justice, has requested the audio of Edmundo's interview in order to determine if there was an infraction of the code of conduct.

If found guilty, the athlete could face a maximum sentence of a six game suspension, apart from a fine from the league. Additionally, Schmitt claims that there were a series of possible infractions that took place in the fifth round of the Brasileiro Championship.
