Paraguay stunned Brazil 2-0 Sunday in Asuncion and remained atop the standings of South American zone World Cup qualifying.

With 11 goals scored and only one conceded, Paraguay leads the standings with 13 points, followed by Argentina and Colombia with 9 each, and Brazil on 8.

Roque Santa Cruz put the home side 1-0 ahead in the 26th minute, and Salvador Cabanas sealed the victory for the host four minutes after halftime.

Paraguay lost defender Dario Veron in the 47th minute after his second yellow card.

Later Sunday, Argentina were hosting Ecuador and Bolivia were entertaining Chile.
