By hosting Wednesday's South American World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina, the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais hopes to become a host for the 2014 World Cup.

The state governor Aecio Neves said the event will raise Belo Horizonte's chances of becoming a 2014 host city.

"We don't plan on demolishing the Mineirao stadium. Rather, we plan on remodeling it to better suit the needs of the World Cup," he said.
