Fluminense striker Washington is suffering from muscle pain and was not confirmed for the team's match on Wednesday against Ecuador's LDU in Quito for the Libertadores Cup finals.
Washington, who missed the team's training sessions over the weekend in Rio, flew on Monday with the rest of the team to Quito.
"I was spared from the practices, so we avoided any type of injury. I am feeling better with this weekends treatment. We still have a couple of days for the game, and I will definitely be better and ready for the match. I will not miss this game," Washington said on Monday.
The June 25 match in Quito and the one in Rios Maracana on July 2 will decide the winner of Libertadores Cup 2008 and the South America representative for FIFA Club World Cup 2008 in December in Japan.
Besides the team's triumph, Washington has an extra personal challenge in the Libertadores Cup finals. The striker has scored six goals during the Cup, two behind the tournament's current top scorer _ Mexicos Americas Cabaas.
If Fluminense win the Cup, Washington will also achieve another outstanding deed. He would play FIFA Club World Cup for two consecutive years. In 2007, Washington played the Cup for Japan's Urawa Red Diamonds.
