Czech national soccer team defender Tomas Ujfalusi signed a three-year contract with the Spanish Atletico Madrid, the Czech news agency CTK said on Tuesday.
Ujfalusi left Italian Fiorentina where his contract expired on Monday, CTK said.
Spanish media speculated about Ujfalusi's transfer before Spain won the Euro 2008, while the Czech team captained by Ujfalusi did not advance from their group.
Ujfalusi was currently on holiday and would be officially introduced in Madrid on July 10, according to his agent Dalibor Lacina.
Defender Ujfalusi, 30, played 123 matches with Fiorentina in the past three seasons.
He played 71 matches for the Czech national team, scoring two goals. He was a member of the Czech team that won bronze medals at Euro 2004.
