LONDON: Sunderland has signed Senegal striker El Hadji Diouf from Bolton for an undisclosed fee, the Premier League club said on its website (www.safc.com) on Monday.
Diouf, 27, the African Footballer of the Year in 2001-02, agreed to a four-year contract with Sunderland, whose manager Roy Keane said he was delighted with the move.
Diouf joined Bolton in 2004 after previously playing for Liverpool in the Premier League and is Sunderland's third major signing in the last week following the transfers of defender Pascal Chimbonda and midfielder Teemo Tainio from Tottenham Hotspur.
He also had spells with Lens, Sochaux and Rennes in France.
