Three Brazilian teams to replace head coach
18:45, August 08, 2008

Brazilian clubs Vasco, Nautico and Santos had their head coaches replaced on Thursday after recent bad results in the tournament.

Vasco announced on Thursday that Tita will replace Antonio Lopesas the team's head coach. Tita will be their fourth head coach in the 2008 season.

Vasco played 27 matches under Lopes command, and had 10 victories, 10 defeats and seven ties. In the most recent game on Wednesday night, the team lost to Coritiba by 2-0.

Santos's head coach Cuca quit after the match on Wednesday. After opening a two goal lead, the team allowed Atletico Mineiro to turn the table and win by 3-2. Cuca headed Santos for 14 rounds, in which the team won three matches, tied four and lost seven.

Assistant coach Marcio Fernandes, a former Santos player, will take over in next game on Sunday, but it is not known whether he will be Cucas permanent replacement. The clubs management is considering hiring Chulapa, another former Santos player, to be assistant coach in case Fernandes stays on the position.

Nautico fired head coach Pintado after the defeat to Atletico Paranaense by 2-0 on Wednesday. Of the three head coaches, Pintado is the one who spent the shortest time on the position: less than a month. He took over in the 13th round of the Brazilian League, and under his command, the team lost five consecutive matches and tied one.

Nautico's management is considering hiring Roberto Fernandes, who has been Nauticos head coach in the past, to the position. He was recently fired by Atletico Paranaense.
