Six foreign-based soccer players are expected to link up with the national football team on Monday when the team resumes training for crucial 2010 World Cup/Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Namibia next Saturday.
Czech based Siad Most striker Patrick Oboya was expected in the country on Saturday night, while the rest of the pack that includes Parma FC midfield maestro McDonald Mariga, Allan Wanga (Petro Atletico, Angola), Victor Mugabe (Germinal Beerschot FC, Belgium) Robert Mambo (GIF Sundsvall, Sweden), Jamal Mohammed (Eskopings, Sweden) and George Owino (Yanga, Tanzania) are expected in the country this evening and would join the camp Monday.
"We expect all of them to report to camp tomorrow. We have sent them tickets and Oboya was the first one expected last evening," said team manager Peter Serry according to the Daily Nation on Sunday.
The Harambee Stars started training last week with local based players but broke camp on Wednesday for the Kenya Premier League fixtures at the weekend. They return to camp Sunday at Kasarani.
Local players are expected in camp after Sunday's league matches. French-based professional striker Dennis Oliech will be missing as he is serving a one-match ban following yellow cards while first choice custodian Arnold Origi is out with injury he suffered against Zimbabwe in Nairobi.
Coach Francis Kimanzi has called up Victor Mugabe to partner either Allan Wanga or on-form Mathare United's Francis Ouma. Mugabe who plays for Belgium side Germinal Beerschot FC last played for Stars in April 2007.
Harambee Stars started on a wrong footing when they lost 2-1 to Namibia on May 31 but recovered to beat Guinea 2-0 (June 7) and Zimbabwe (June 14) with the same margin.
An impressive 0-0 draw in Harare firmly put Kenya on course for qualification but they have to contend with Namibia in ten days.
Harambee Stars travel to Conakry to face Guinea in the last group match on October 10.
Stars currently sit in second place in Group two of the 2010 World Cup qualifying group with seven points from four matches.
Guinea currently leads the group with better goal difference with Zimbabwe third and Namibia bottom with three points and still wide open with all teams still in with a chance of qualifying.
