Benefica beat Napoles 2-0 on Thursday in their second leg duel and advanced in the UEFA knockout stage.

The last time that Benefic had eliminated an Italian team was 20 years ago, during the season 1985/86, when it upset Sampdoria (2-0 and 1-0).

In Thursday's match at Estadio da Luz, Lisbon, with more than 56,000 fans, Benefica opened the scoring in the 57th minute by Reyes and Nuno Gomes sealed the win only seven minutes to go.

Benefica's coach Spaniard Quique Flores said after the match, "The performance of the players was very good and our fans must behappy with what we have done."

During the first leg played in San Paolo stadium in Napoles, Italy, 15 days ago, Benefica won 3-2 against Napoles.
