Luxembourg came tumbling back to earth when they were defeated 3-1 at home to Israel in a Group 2 qualifier on Saturday.
Israel snatched the lead in the first minute when captain Yossi Benayoun converted a penalty. But the Grand Duchy, who secured their first FIFA World Cup qualifying win away from home against Switzerland last month, struck back through Rene Peters in the 14th minute.
Israel finally secured their victory against a team ranked more than 100 places below them with two second-half goals from Omer Golan in the 63rd minute and Salim Toama eight minutes before the final whistle.
