Brazil's Santos announced the club has signed Roni on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old was a regular striker in 2008 with the Japanese team of Gamba Osaka.
He had played for the Brazilian teams of Flamengo, Atletico-MG, Sao Paulo and Fluminense before his Asian trip.
The player is expected to be presented on January 12.
