Brazilian forward Luis Fabiano has been granted by his Spanish club Sevilla to be back to his home nation for rehabilitation for his injured left knee.

The striker declared on Monday that he will perform his physical therapy at the Sao Paulo soccer club facility as his second phase of rehabilitation continues.

Fabiano will officially complete his first phase of physical therapy on Tuesday, and will then prepare his return to Brazil.

He had been expected to play in Brazil's friendly against Italy on Feb. 10, but the injury suffered on January 29 will unfortunately keep him off the field for the next couple months.

Fabiano was raised in the farm league of Sao Paulo and began his professional career with the team, and has been keeping a close personal relationship with the team doctors and directors.

The player's first phase of recuperation consisted of rest and little physical activity as his twisted knee remains swollen and tender.

His second phase of recuperation at Sao Paulo will be geared towards putting weight on his knee and attempting to re-strengthen the area.
